=================================

The expanded alphabet features the additional letters
cweorth,
calc,
cealc,
stan.

These additional letters have only been found in manuscripts. Feoh, þorn, and sigel stood for [f], [þ], and [s] in most environments, but voiced to [v], [ð], and [z] between vowels or voiced consonants. Gyfu and wynn stood for the letters yogh and wynn, which became [g] and [w] in Middle English.

Thorn or þorn (Þ, þ) is a letter in the Old English, Gothic, Old Norse and modern Icelandic alphabets, as well as some dialects of Middle English. It was also used in medieval Scandinavia, but was later replaced with the digraph th, except in Iceland, where it survives.

Go to system prefs/international/input menu and check the box for US Extended, plus the box for “show input menu in Finder”. Then select US Extended in the “flag” menu at the top right of the Finder. Then you can type Alt/Option + d for ð and Alt/Option + t for þ.
